River's Edge Rafting beautifully balances the thrill of shooting the rapids with a knowledge and a respect of the river that made the experience feel safe with out compromising any of the excitement of rafting the Trinity.

River Classifications

It is important to know your ability before taking on a river, consequently the classification system was set up to help the rafter and guide to choose the course best for your abilities.

And that is one of the nice things about our location on the Trinity river. River's Edge Rafting is perfectly located to embark on a stretch of the Trinity with many class 3 and even class 4 rapids depending on river flow or if your party prefers you can choose to travel the milder class 2 rapids at an easy point access. We can take ether option depending on what your party wants in terms of a challenge.

Rating of Ability:

Class 1 Rapids
Appropriate for all ages having no serious waves or any real obstacles to speak of.

Class 2 Rapids
Easy rapids, appropriate for all ages. Rapids will consist of regular waves, straight forward passages and wide channels.

Class 3 Rapids
(No one under 5 yrs/50lbs.) Moderately difficult rapids with irregular waves. Expect narrow channels and required maneuvering to avoid obstacles.

Class 4 Rapids
(Ages Vary) Difficult rapids with complex channels. Because significant obstacles exist precise maneuvering and skill is required.

Class 5 Rapids
(No one under 15) Rapids are extremely difficult consisting of long continuous runs of white water. In this classification rapids follow each other with a minimum of interruption. Only the very seasoned should consider taking on this classification of rapids.

Class 6 Rapids
Considered unrunnable. Attempting these kinds of rapids constitutes a serious risk of injury or death.

Rivers and sections of rapids can change in classification based on river flow, so it is always good to ask your rafting company and guide what the classifications be at the time the river is run.
